Integrated care: HSCIC appoints new specialist

13 January, 2015: The Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Kinnear to its Provider Support directorate.

He will join the organisation next month on secondment and provide advice on local delivery of integrated care.

His role will involve advising on local interoperability programmes and health and social care integration solutions, in addition to mapping progress of health and social care integrations across the healthcare landscape.

Andy is the Director of Business Intelligence and Informatics at South West Commissioning Support (SWCS), the CSU supporting CCGs in and around Bristol and Somerset. He has worked across a number of areas, including data management and analytics, IT services, information governance and delivery of transformational technology projects.

As chair of Connecting Care, the clinical system interoperability programme in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, Andy has been involved in overseeing the development of a detailed shared patient record including information from GPs, acute, mental health trusts, community and out of hours providers and social care. In 2014, Connecting Care was announced as one of three national exemplar programmes for interoperability and shortlisted for a number of national awards.

Andy said: "I am looking forward to taking up this new role, which will help to deliver a more joined-up approach to health and social care at a local level, and ultimately, improve patient experience and outcomes."

Tom Denwood, HSCIC National Provider Support Director, said: "I am absolutely delighted that Andy has joined the team. There is an opportunity to bring HSCIC's expertise to help co-produce solutions to support the local delivery of integrated care. Andy's advice and guidance will be invaluable in making this happen."
