UK Assisted Reproductive Treatments (ART) Data Set

About this information standard

SCCI has authorised the release of an Advance Notification (AN) for a new information standard which will require all licensed fertility clinics in the UK to submit information about each cycle of treatment they carry out. This includes information such as patient and donor details, treatments provided and their outcomes.

The purpose of the standard is to make explicit the data that is required to be collected and ensure the collection of consistent data across the UK fertility sector, in pursuit of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority's (HFEA) statutory obligation to maintain a Register of Treatments.

Note that the HFEA does already collect fertility data; this information standard ensures alignment of the data items with the wider system of health and care.

Update: 28 February 2017: Development of this information standard has been delayed and therefore the timescales stated in the Advance Notification below are no longer valid. The document remains on this page as an indication of scope only. When the new timescales are confirmed, they will be published on this page and notified to subscribers.
